KDDI, a leading mobile network operator in Japan, is deploying MCCI
USB host drivers in its next generation set top box.
KDDI's HD-STB, a convergence set-top box that offers a "PC-free"
connection to KDDI's fiber-optic based IP TV network, includes MCCI's
Linux-based driver functionality. Music and video programs purchased via
the HD-STB can be downloaded and transferred to au handsets for mobile
listening or viewing.
MCCI earlier provided host drivers for the successful deployment of KDDI's au BOX. Previous cooperation activities between KDDI and MCCI include the development of the USB connectivity specification and the development of connectivity test tools for the au mobile network.
